It’s about balance.


It looks like any typical mid-Winter’s Tuesday eve. The work day draws to a close, and the exterior scenery is a little brighter due to the steady increase of available daylight. Instead of sitting down to a casual dinner, this night takes you out to a pub, or gathering of friends because this is Mardis Gras, which translated from French is “Fat Tuesday.” What does Fat Tuesday involve? Well, in a word, it involves excess. Excess, and gorging are really the rules of the day dedicated to the consumption of rich, fatty foods, and sugary-sweet libations.

Why dedicate this day to over-indulgence? We have to, for the very next day marks a transition into yet another season marked by extremes: Lent! So many people shift from one extreme to the other, from overindulgence to a stark, ritualistic period of abstinence. You may be asking yourself, “What the hell do Mardis Gras and Lent have in common with CBD??” The answer is: they don’t have anything to do with CBD, and the CBD lifestyle.

Things like Mardi Gras, and the Lenten/Easter season are true highlights on the calendar for some, and they represent some fun, healthy parts of culture, as well as important spiritual touchstones. But the reality is that those feasts have a lot to do with extremes, and CBD runs antithetical both. CBD, and the CBD lifestyle is all about balance.

If you’ve attended one of our CBD education sessions, there’s a very good chance that you are familiar with the word homeostasis. You might also recall the term from a biology class of yester-year. Homeostasis is the state in which our body’s organs, hormones, and cells are all optimized to perform at peak levels. In the state of homeostasis, the body works as it was designed to work. You don’t feel tense and stressed due to excess of cortisol, and you don’t suffer the effects of inflammation which is really at the root of numerous ailments.

We can achieve homeostasis through a combination of things, like getting the proper amount of rest, eating a balanced, healthy diet, and feeding the body’s endocannabinoid system cannabidiol so that all of our other systems are regulated properly. That’s right. Daily intake of CBD (cannabidiol) is a key component in making sure our bodies work the way that they are designed to. Every mammal has an endocannabinoid system. We’re “wired” to receive CBD, nature’s uber-powerful ingredient that helps regulate critical processes which have a significant impact on day to day health.

So you see, there’s a legitimate reason why your one friend who is a CBD convert simply can’t stop raving about the difference daily CBD has made in his or her life. Finding that balance is vital. It’s where we’re supposed to be. When you think about it, going to extremes is a simple way of communicating actions that are drastic. That’s not how we want to talk about our daily health and wellness.
