As time marches on, it’s not totally uncommon for a holiday to lose its luster. Halloween certainly means a bit more to us when we’re young and free of responsibilities. Even the magic of Christmas can diminish as “the years perform their terrible dance” (had to feed my urge to quote Dickens there!) and our families grow and expand along with our list of holiday obligations. Thanksgiving starts to stand out simply because of its purity. A day set aside to be cognizant of what we have and to express our gratitude for those things that give our lives meaning. A true holistic holiday stripped down to what is absolutely essential: gratitude, togetherness, family, and friends. Like most other major holidays in 2020, Thanksgiving will arrive, but in slightly different packaging. Travel plans will be derailed for some of us, and we may be setting fewer places at the table due to the many problems posed by the scourge that is Covid19. While these changes are difficult to accept, we move on, committed to preserve the health of many by limiting our plans for this year in the hopes of greater celebrations in the next. Of course, none of this is easy. The absence of a “normal” holiday can cause stress and anxiety levels to rise. The uncertainty of everything makes a bad situation worse, so if you’re stressed or struggling with anxiety or a lack of sleep, we hope you’ll reach out to our team at Terrapin Select. We don’t have a magic wand that we’ve been holding back that will set all things right, but we can help you make some great changes to your daily health & wellness routine that can provide comfort during this season of uncertainty. We’ve said this before, so please know that we mean it. We are still here for you! Closing the doors to our dispensary made us expand our minds to find new innovative ways to support our valued Terrapin Select customers! Get in touch with us today, and we’ll get to work finding the right CBD supplement to help you relax, sleep, and boost your immune health. Our team is more than happy to contact you at your convenience and walk you through our inventory of premium CBD supplements, including new product offerings from Upland Hemp, and Funky Farms. This Thanksgiving may be different than most others that preceded it, but that will not keep us from finding joy and being grateful for all that we have the good that is on its way. As always, we wish you the very best that the season has to offer. Happy Thanksgiving. Be Wise, Be Well.
It’s November 11th. Do you know why that matters? I’ve been in attendance for hundreds of speeches and parades honoring the nation’s military where a speaker will make the noble plea that we should really “make every day” Memorial Day, or Veterans Day, and while that’s certainly sound reasoning, there is something particularly special … Continued
There’s Nothing Scary about CBD The leaves are changing color, days are getting shorter, and temperatures are getting chillier day by day. Yes, October has arrived, and it is traditionally the season of tricks, treats, and celebrating the scary aspects of life. One thing that shouldn’t scare you in the least is incorporating a CBD supplement into your health and wellness regimen. Let’s face it, health is on everyone’s minds these days, perhaps more so than any time in recent memory. It’s only natural to want do everything you can to ensure that you perform at peak levels and stay happy and healthy as the seasons change. When our bodies react to seasonal changes, many of us start to suffer from complications related to allergy and sinus issues. In return, we make every attempt to boost immune health. For years people have turned to time-tested natural supplements for immune support, and over the last few years CBD has taken the health and wellness market by storm. CBD has helped so many who struggle with chronic pain, stress, anxiety, sleeplessness, and overall immune health just to name a few of the reasons for CBD’s rise in popularity. Any time a “new” product emerges that can help with so many common health issues, it’s only natural for people to be somewhat skeptical, but there is nothing scary about trying CBD! To prove it, we’re going to address the most common fears and misconceptions people have when it comes to our favorite, helpful, healing cannabinoid from the hemp plant! “Is CBD even legal?” First off, this certainly isn’t an irrational concern! Hemp derived CBD products are protected under the expanded 2018 Farm Bill. Any CBD supplement you purchase from Terrapin Select is made from domestic hemp grown by the very finest American cultivators. “Will CBD get me “high”?” We are happy to report that the answer is a firm “no”. CBD supplements are not intoxicating, and will not impair your ability to go to work, drive a car, etc. “Back to that last question, what about Full Spectrum CBD supplements?!” Hemp derived Full Spectrum CBD that’s grown in the United States according to the parameters laid out in the Farm Bill contains less than .3% THC. That is a miniscule amount and will not get you high. That trace amount of THC isn’t enough to be psychoactive, but it’s enough to get the benefits of the whole plant, what people usually refer to as the “entourage effect.” “What if I dose wrong and wind up taking too much CBD?” You can’t take too much CBD. Our bodies are wired to receive it, and you will not overdose on this safe, natural cannabinoid. There are zero cannabinoid receptors located in your brain stem, which is responsible for your heartbeat and breathing. Therefore, there’s no amount of cannabinoids that can shut those functions down. “I don’t have my medical marijuana card, can I still buy CBD?” Lots of people have confused CBD with “medical marijuana.” First of all – get the word marijuana out of your vocabulary altogether. Call that plant by its true name – cannabis! Since CBD we are talking about are derived from cannabis that is classified as industrial hemp, which means it doesn’t have more than .3% of THC in the whole plant, you do not need a medical card to purchase it. Sure, many top-notch cannabis dispensaries will carry a high–quality CBD tincture or two for their patients’ convenience, but CBD is not federally restricted in the same fashion as cannabis. No medical card required. … Continued
March 12th is now indelibly imprinted in my mind for so any reasons. Chief among those reasons is that it was the last day that Terrapin Select had our doors open to the public. The Cornona virus had been on our minds collectively for a few weeks. At that moment we had the “luxury” of viewing that news story from a distance, but as time went on and more people became afflicted with the disease, it transformed into a problem that we had to address. Our last walk-in customers on the afternoon of March 12th really made us think about the overall consequences of remaining open even one day more. It was really a simple exercise of mentally tracing the footsteps of our customers and our staff members that made us realize just how precarious a situation we were in now with this highly transmissible virus. It was apparent that if we remained open and reporting to work in a normal fashion that we’d be endangering lives. Nothing about this situation was normal, so we realized we would need to pivot and adjust to the impending public health crisis. Our leadership team instantly went to work planning our next moves: our retail space would immediately close to the general public, and we would substantially limit the number of staff members reporting for on-site work. Further plans would be needed to figure out the logistics of “remaining open” while shutting our doors, but those first two issues were of paramount importance to both our customers and our team. We came up with a way to fulfill our online orders, as well as any orders from our retail partners that would work with limited staff. Team members were assigned certain days of the week where they would run point for Terrapin Select and handle any business that came our way. We’d log normal hours while we could, and the team would stay connected all day long via online chat and phone calls. Support would be provided. In some ways it was the classic “battlefield promotion” for some of our team as we took on new roles and learned parts of the business we were never involved in prior to this emergency. In what has come to be classic Terrapin team fashion, our staff responded with alacrity and went to work fighting for our small business. Messages were posted online and at our headquarters informing the public of our decisions and providing contact information should they need any assistance from us whatsoever. Daily duties shifted as needed, and collectively we would put on our bravest face for what lies ahead. We know that so many of our customers, like us, have come to rely on CBD as part of their daily health and wellness routine. Getting our clients the CBD supplements they rely on was a primary concern, so if they could not get to us with ease, we would do our best to ease their minds and get our products to them. It was decided that we would go to free shipping on every order placed on terrapinselect.com. The people need their CBD, and we’re going to get it to them! Luckily for us, our valued customers are just amazing. We’ve been blessed to be able to keep going during this time of unprecedented turmoil, and you need to know that we wake up each day grateful that we have the opportunity to help you be wise and be well. Thank you for your patronage. In the coming days keep your eyes on our social media accounts for some more “behind the curtain” type posts so that you can check in on our team, and our process these days. We’ll be sharing updates, day-to-day operations, what CBD supplements our team is using during quarantine, and how we’re spending our down-time at home. Let us know how you’re doing! We’d love to hear from you be it in the comments here, the comments on our social accounts, or in an email. We’ll check in again soon! Until then, stay safe, Be Wise, Be Well.
